Although cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin are all the buzz right now, we are still years away from being about to use them for our everyday needs. That said, the days of having to pay in cash for the Colonel’s delicious chicken are long behind us, at least in Canada. KFC is now amongst the first restaurants to open their doors to bitcoin. Using their Bitcoin Bucket you have your favorite chicken delivered right to your door.
The transaction is simple enough. All you need to do is log onto KFC’s website and pay the bitcoin equivalent of $20 canadian dollars. The shipping is complete included with the meal. The bitcoin bucket includes ten chicken tenders, a medium side, a medium gravy, waffle fries and a two dips.
The KFC Canada website reports: “Despite the ups and downs of Bitcoin, the Colonel’s Original Recipe is as good as always,” KFC Canada’s website says. “So, trade your Bitcoins for buckets and invest in something finger lickin’ good.”
Given how fresh bitcoin is, one would question how well this would work out for the company. Fortunately, it seems things went just as well as they planned. If you log onto the KFC Canada website you can see that the bitcoin bucket is currently sold out. This isn’t the first time that they have ran out. The website also advises to “Keep on checking in for restocks of this Bucket.”
It should also be further noted that despite this being a limited time offer, KFC as listed no end date on the products sale. That said, we take this as an experimental move by the popular food. A move that can either expand their bitcoin usage or see them completely drop their use of cryptocurrency.
