You can learn cryptocurrency via trial and error, albeit painfully so. You can also learn through experience. But if you prefer to learn in a less harder way, there are universities which offer degrees in digital currencies. Courses on blockchain are also available. Choose which school you prefer and make the decision to be a cryptocurrency expert. Though experience is the best teacher, backing up your experience with education is highly advisable.
Master’s Degree in Digital Currency
A university in Cyrpus as well as in Brazil are offering master’s degrees to those who are interested to study digital currency or cryptocurrency finance. The University of Nicosia’s Digital Currency Graduate Degree was initially offered in 2014 at no cost online. The university’s offering allowed anyone from any part of the world to study cryptocurrency for free. The university was also the first to accept Bitcoin. The University of Nicosia has been touted as the “largest English instruction” university in the Mediterranean.
Similarly, an educational institution in Sao Paulo Brazil is offering a Masters Degree in Cryptofinance. Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) is the first university in the world to offer the degree. According to the program’s coordinator, Ricardo Rochman, the degree was created to answer the industry’s need for people with crypto-related expertise. Rochman stated that “Cryptofinance has economic and financial fundamentals that are worth discussing, researching, and [being] taught.” The degree is set to provide students with an “objective, academic perspective” on the crypto markets.
Though universities in the USA have yet to offer degrees in cryptocurrency, blockchain courses are available for those who want to know more about the crypto-finance market. Since 2014, blockchain classes have been offered in New York University – five years after bitcoin was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto. The first course offered was “The Law and Business of Bitcoin and Other Cryptocurrencies” – it discusses Bitcoin and other crypto payment facilities. Another course, “Digital Currency: Revolution in Money and Payments?” introduces students to digital currencies as well as various mobile payment systems.
In the UK, the University of Cumbria offers an online Master-level course on the future of money. It uses the perspective within the Bitcoin community that money is an asset that possesses intrinsic value. Meanwhile, Denmark’s IT University of Copenhagen organized a Blockchain Summer School in 2017 – the first in its kind which focused on educating students on blockchain technology. Blockchain University in California claims to provide solid blockchain tech education for managers, developers, and entrepreneurs. The institution is lead by the pioneering minds within the blockchain industry.
