Thames Valley police have reported that a group of armed men have broke into the home of a cryptocurrency trader and forced him at weapon point to make a transfer holdings of his bitcoin currency.
Police are currently looking for witnesses who may have seen the four crooks who committed the crime. The crooks broke into the Oxfordshire Village of Moulsford home and threatened to harm the both the trader and his wife. The police have not confirmed is this attack was driven solely for the victim’s cryptocurrency or for other possessions in the house as well.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, cryptocurrency and the crimes associated with was the subject of major discussion. They came to the conclusion that major crackdowns needed to take place in order to prevent things such as fraud and other criminal activities from happening.
Luckily nobody was seriously injured during the targeted attack. Police were called to the house off Reading Road at about 9:40am on the 22nd of January. Later on the same day, the police visited a nearby school just to assure that everything was safe and stable.
It was warned by police to the local residents that they can expect to see an increase in police presence around the neighborhood, as the investigation is just taking off. The village is known for having very big and beautiful red brick house. The famous area has been used for filming several television shows. You might recall it being in the famous television drama Midsomer Murders.
At the moment, the local law enforcement is interested in anyone who might have mobile phone or dashcam footage of the village from around the time of the incident was taking place. One has to hope that this isn’t the first of many cryptocurrency inspired crimes.
